Smoke seen during standoff after stabbing in northwest Houston apartment complex, images show

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A suspect barricaded themself inside an apartment after allegedly stabbing a man in northwest Houston, according to HPD.

The Houston Police Department said it responded to a call at the 4400 block of North Shepherd Drive at the Garden Oaks Village apartment complex after 4 p.m. on Friday.

A man was reportedly stabbed, and a suspect remained at the scene, barricaded inside an apartment.

Police did not say anyone was in custody or provide any information on the status of the stabbing victim.

ABC13 observed over a dozen police vehicles at the active scene that caused the complete closure of Shepherd Drive as the investigation was underway.

At around 7 p.m., hours after the standoff began, ABC13 observed smoke coming from the apartment.

Moments later, the Houston Fire Department reported it was responding to an apartment fire at the same location.
